French Pronunciation guide
· ONLY pronounce the following CONSONANTS at the end of words- C R F and L.
To help remember this, think of the word CaReFuL.
· “vert” is pronounced “ver,” but if there is an “e” at the end of the word, we pronounce the consonant before it, e.g. “verte” is pronounced “vert”
· Sometimes we need to join words up to make them sound better. This usually happens when one word ends in an “s” and the next word starts with a vowel.
e.g. “les yeux” is pronounced “lez year”
- In French we like the gutteral "r." This means it comes from around the back of your throat. This is very different to the Spanish "r" which is rolled and comes from the front of the mouth.
